I saw an add for Hyacinth macaws on the internet and contacted the person Killian Uchenna from ALL PARROTS AVERIES in Greece. He gave me a list of birds avaiilable. I ordered the birds. He sent me a full contract to be completed and signed. I did that and paid a 50% deposit via money gram (first mistake). I then started searching his name on the internet to find that his name is linked to scams. I informed him of this but we decided that although we have paid the money and probably lost it in any case, we will continue with the deal.
The next day the pet delivery companyIPATA e mailed me the CITES permits as well as a letter from the Ministry of Wildlife to say that alll is in order, but the need EUR 3550 for the insurance. This IPATA is not associated with the registered company. I went onto the official website of IPATA to find a warning of scams. I e mailed this to the company concerned, to hear that they are " not associated with the official company".
They have produced all the neccessary documents to make it seem legit, but the documents omit certain detail as required by law, such as the band numbers or microchip numbers on the birds.
I informed Killian of this and he said that he is prepared to pay half the insurrance.
I then e mailed the company IPATA in greece to request their full details, the exact airline to be used as well as the insurance company they are using.
Still no birds!
