I've never redeemed recyclables. I just gave them to the city. Unfortunately I told them this, possibly leaving me open to be scammed. Now I am on a fixed disability income and took over 6 months of water plastic bottles to be recycled. I had 14 kitchen trash bags full. I estimate 40-50 bottles per bag per my sample counting for the 2 sized bags.
These 4 male employees standing around outside with me as the only customer just watched as my 2 1/2 baskets got filled with my bottles. The weigher just told me to take the paper to the window.
The two females behind the glass looked bored, while the one handed me the slip for $17.25 for my signature. I was outraged that they did not pay me the value of CA RDV and let her and everyone around me know. This amount covers about 345 bottles at. 05 cents... Whereas I know I gave at least 560 bottles which should have come to $28.
And, this is my low estimate of the quantity of bottles in the 14 bags. At the more realistic estimate they owed me $35... That is 50% loss to me. Their scamming took 50% off of my redemption amount.
A-1 Metals Recycling is not to be trusted. I am in the process of filing a formal complaint here in Sacramento with Certification and Cons. Zones with the Dept of Conservation.
Do not trust A-1 Metals on Elkhorn Blvd. They will scam you straight out, or their scales are wrong. Either way they know they're stealing and egged me on to file a complaint. I am filing a complaint.
