Nast Publications If it Looks Like A Sweepstakes but It Costs money to enter (if you dont read the small priint)

It starts of with nice valentine's day graphics and irresistible prizes which can be awarded if you win and it looks like a sweepstakes...

It also looks like you have to pay to play—unless you read the fine print beneath!

I am not accusing these people of ripping anyone off or deliberately planning such a thing —just noting that it would be awfully easy to use this to ge info for spamming purposes, postal mailbox junk mailing and who knows what???

Thigs just do not appear to me like they seemed when i first read this —before i examine it closer.

Bon Apptit is making this Valentine's Day extra-sweet by selecting 53 winners in 52 days! Win a romantic, relaxing three-night stay for you and your sweetheart at the Encantado Spa & Resort in Santa Fe, New Mexico, courtesy of Spa Addicts.com! You'll both receive a 60 minute spa service, plus dinner for two at Terra Restaurant. Plus, 52 daily prize winners will receive a copy of Things Cooks Love by Sur La Table and Marie Simmons, a Valentine-themed Spatula and an Aux Anysetiers du Roy Chocolate Fondue all courtesy of Sur La Table.

Subscribe and get one year (12 issuse) of Bon Appetit for only $12 $3 shipping and handling. At a savings of 72% off the cover price, that's like getting 8 issues FREE! Plus, you're automatically entered for a chance to win!

Step 1. Choose an Offer
12 issues (one year) for only $12 plus $3 shipping and handling
BEST DEAL: 24 issues (two years) for only $21 plus $6 shipping and handling

*Plus applicable sales tax

Small print making it look like you are going to have to enter to win but i think federal regulations make it illegal to offer a sweepstakes and make somebody pay to enter. (kind of like gambling.)

But what kind of chance do you have to enter?

What do you think that your chances are of winning if you enter using this alternative method?

Do you think this might be a way of soliciting your personal information so you can get spammed later and no prize will be awarded like has been happening with a lot of these alleged sweepstakes and |instant winner — play to win games???

I understand that I will receive uninterrupted service and delivery of Bon Apptit, and Gourmet if applicable, and that my subscription will be automatically renewed each year at the rate then in effect. I won't be bothered with any renewal notices in the mail; instead, I will receive a clearly marked annual reminder about 60 days before my credit card is charged or a bill is sent. I may cancel at any time during my subscription and receive a full refund on any unmailed copies by calling Bon Apptit at 1-800-765-9419

This may be legitimate. It might be a spoof. Conde nast has been publishing magazines and other information for many years.

I guess i am too jaded by entering my address information in one too many "sweepstakes" and then having spam force out my legitimate correspondence —back then the internet was new and i didn't know any better.

I do not know of anyone who ever won one of these sweepstakes.
I have to wonder if all so=called sweepstakes are scams to collect your financial and personal information.

I sure as h* won't be entering this one!
