I received an email in response to an ad I posted on craigslist for an item I have for sale. Sale price was $300. Person who emailed couldn't spell for one. Asks for your address to send you a cashier's check and the amount above that included, to be sent western union to his shipping company so they can pick up the item.
I received a express envelope today with a check for $2500! It was not a cashier's check. Nothing else in the envelope. Return address was from FL. The check's company address is TN.
I check my emailand have another letter from this person who goes by Jones Rowland. It demands I cash the check, take my money, and send the rest western union to someone in UT! That I can take out the fees out of that money and then email him back the amount that was wired. Also wanted a pick-up address for the item.
I decided to look into it more and came across someone else who had a similiar incident with this Jones Rowland person. They found out that someone was stealing UPS account numbers and that the check is a fraudulent check.
Please be aware of this scam! Seems to have some variations from person to person, but it is from a Jones Rowland with email address [email protected].
