I received a letter in the mail from a supposed Stephen Greene of Manpower for a customer service evaluator position. The letter included a legitimate looking check in the amount of $2,975.00.in the letter I was supposed to cash the check, then call 647-206-6362 "to speak to a coordinator for detailed instructions." I called the number and they told me to cash the check first, then call them for further instructions. I had received calls from Manpower in the past, but they said they found my resume on Monster. When I called Manpower I found out that they had no record of anything regarding the letter or the check and that it is fraud. Their legal department is getting involved with it, but they told me to contact the police to file a report myself as well. I contacted the police and they instructed me to contact the Postal Inspector since it was a letter I received through the mail. I have left a message. If you receive this letter and this check DO NOT CASH THE CHECK. It is a scam and it is IMPERATIVE that you contact the Postal Inspector for your city (you can search for the number on the internet). The phone number is a cell phone from Toronto, which coincides with the other rip off reports that this SCAM is coming from Canada. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, CASH THE CHECK! It may look legitimate, but it is not! Call the postal inspector and file a report.
