Purchased a vixen telescope and ioptron mount after going through several lengthy discussion and price agreements, over competitors prices who telescope.com agreed to beat.
Scope was advertised for $999.00 with finderscope and flip mirror.
Gave credit card to telescopes.com and the order was confirmed to be shipped on 10/30/08.
Approximately a week later telescopes.com canceled the order, claiming it violated their price agreements with vixen. That they were prohibited from selling the scope below the manufacturers advertised price. They also claimed the scope did not have a finderscope and flip mirror. That if i wanted that scope, the new price would be $1299.
This amounts to a classic bait and switch. It also amounts to numerous violations of the sherman act in engaging in anti-competitive price agreements to control the price.
Telescopes.com is refusing to honor the price and to provide the merchandise as agreed upon, and paid for by credit card.
The manufacturer, vixen optics, denies there is any price control agreement with telescopes.com. Vixen could've done more, they could have stepped in and corrected the whole situation, but i guess their loyalty is to the $, and not the customers satisfaction.
Telescopes.com also lied about how the order was canceled. At first they stated that i canceled the order. This all goes to show what an unethical company this is. They quote prices, take your order, and then back up and say you can't have it, except for another $300.00. What a waste of time with these people.
