Becky Glover is the person who runs GCDHA - She also owns a crossbred otherwise Grade stallion called Spellcaster. She lead me to believe that the GCDHA was a seperate entity, asking me to hurry and send a booking fee to GCDHA address, they needed it right away! When in fact, it was her own address and this is what tipped me off. She mustve needed some hay for her grade horse.
She runs both that website (GCDHA) and her own www.drumandfeather.com. You can tell by doing a "whois Lookup" on website. For example

Although gorgeous, these Drum horses are crossbreeds and their heritage and and that of most Gypsy Vanners are unknown, most dont even have pedigrees that date back 2 generations, "Darn Gypsy's at it again". However their price doesnt reflect this minor observation, they want to charge $20,000.00 for a large "mutt" horse.in fact, they are like any other "grade horse" only bigger with spots and cost 100 times more.
It took me forever to get a contract from her, and when I asked about it again, for the 5th time, she stated that she was waiting for me to send her the money ($600.00) BEFORE she would send me the contract! New way to do business? For all I know she couldve bred my horse to buffalo without a contract first! When I questioned this to be a somewhat ridiculous practice she finally sent me the contract which of course had no limitations on her end, she would charge me "whatever it took to take care of my horse daily" vet & farrier fees and any other charges that came up. I appreciate the nessasary care for my horse however, the way the contract was written, it could have easily cost me $10,000.00 to get my $2500.00 mare back from her. I was sending my horse to be bred, not buffed and polished.
At this point I didnt feel very comfortable doing business with her any longer and told her I didnt want to follow through with the breeding. She stated that I had made a "commitment" to her and that I should pay for the breeding anyway. I thought this was outrageous! Needless to say It turned me away from the Drum Horse Breed altogether. Maybe she needed the money for the paper the contract was written on. Plus postage?
I think if she wouldve been "UPFRONT" about her same address and household association with GCDHA it wouldnt make her look like she was trying to hide something. I felt I was really falsely informed and led to believe this was a real registry not something somebody decided to make up one day so their horse would be worth more money, but she did it, and did it well!
Look at them all! Friesian Breeders are selling all their high quality stock that run back hundreds of years to join in on the fun and make the move to Drums and Vanners! Thats where the money is, we'll cross a cheap clyde with a "Vanner" with no heritage and call it a drum and sell it for $20,000.00! Boy did the Clydesdale market skyrocket! =) And the Friesian Market took a big hit, Kudos to those of you who are loyally hanging in there to try keep this almost extinct Friesian breed that have been around for hundreds of years!

I think I'll cross a Thoroughbred and Quarter horse and create a registry called Appendix.com and people will send me money to register their crossbred horses, even though mostly none have pedigrees (grade horses), we can now start with some certificates from any office supply store and charge $20,000.00 for them! That's exactly what has gone on here.
Drum horse. The Queen of England used to own a "drum horse" which was a horse big enough to carry large drums. Thats about the extent of the history on a drum horse. Basically the rules are you can cross any draft horse with feather to a Vanner and get a drum!
And you think that one of the dealers is going to guarantee your horse from not being sterile? He dont care he got his 20k and he knows you cant afford a lawyer now! Lol! Do your homework, especially when it comes to the internet where everything is not as it seems.
Its to bad, I really liked the looks of these horses and wanted one myself, but to find out how the registry was setup was a big hairy dissapointment. With this previous report Im starting to think these members are in cohoots together.
I could barely get an answer back from Becky by email or phone, it took me 3 months just to get a contract, so becareful when you take out a second mortgage to buy one of these so called "Drum Horses" and make sure you can get it registered, she may not be feeling well that day. At least you have a peice of paper saying theyre qualified to carry a drum! =P
