I had a membership with Fitness Center I got married and I had to move. According to the contract if there are no close facilities within 25 mi radius I'm able to cancel my membership. I contacted Fitness Center to let them know I couldn't continue my membership due to no close facilities. Later, I found out that I was put through a collection agency called the National Credit Corporation for an amount of money they still think I owed. I tried to explain to the representatives that I should not have this collection and it's a mistake. However, they demanded a full payment of that amount. They have been very rude, disrespectful, and uncooperative. They continue to hang up the phone without hearing me. I contacted them again because I wanted to close the case because it has damaged my credit. I told them that if I have to pay I would only pay a small amount just to clear this matter up.
They sent me a letter on 6/30/08 stating that I could pay $280.00 in full and they would issue me a letter for my records stating the account will be paid in full if received by 7/19/08. I On the morning of 7/28/08 I called the company to verify if my case has been closed. However I was shocked when the representative told me I still owed money. I then contacted a supervisor who was very rude, yelling and stating I still owed money and they will not send a letter. I tried to contact them again yet they continue to be disrespectful, sarcastic and uncooperative. I believe they are making their living by forcing people to pay unfairly. I want to make sure that this problem does not continue to happen with any to others. I want everyone to know that this is a real scam.
