I recall receiving a telephone call my freshman year in college from a company doing some sort of survey. To my mistake, I gave all my information, about two weeks later I get a credit card from Clout. I think great, I am in school I need this credit card. Well it had all of these fees and I used it a few times. My balance was about $300 and I wanted to cancel the card and pay the balance. I was unable to contact anyone and unable to cancel the card.
About three years later I started getting my paycheck garnished of 25%. I found out it was Clout saying I owe close to $2,000 for this card. I called the attorney and he was extremely rude, and he said he is going by Georgia laws which allows 25% garnishment. I explained that the juristication should be in the state in which it originated which is NY, I just moved to GA. He didn't want to be of any help in solving this.
They prey on college students, and I believe that a class action lawsuit should be filed against them.
