In early April I was looking to sell a time share. I was contacted by Melinda Hefferbert and had a good conversation. I was unsure about paing the $400 to list my time share. I took about two weeks to decide. During that time Melinda called me everyday. Each phone call she talked about interested buyers. She was even so bold as to tell me she could have sold it "last weekend", she had a buyer for my timeshare location and all she had was 2 bed rooms (mine is a 1 bedroom). I called her with some questions and never had trouble reaching her. On April 17 I finally decided to bite the bullet and pay the fee. (Other companies were asking similar prices).
Since the day they received my contract I have never heard from Melinda. I have called at least once a week since May 26. I have talked to her assistant Mathew and the receptionist many times and left many messages. I always get the same reheased lines about potential buyers. At this point, I am not calling to see if it has sold I know they will call me when it does. I just have some questions and cannot get Melinda to return a call. I have even been hung up on and told they had phone problems when I call back.
I know that the $400 fee that I paid is an advertising fee. Yes, my time share is listed on their website, so they have advertised it. I am not looking for a refund. I should have been more careful with exactly what I was paying for.
I want to make sure others are not taken in by the same sales tactics. Doing research I have found that Melinda and John Hofferbert had similar businesses in two locations in Florida under the name Escape to Paradise and Superstar Properties. Both of those businesses had similar complaints as mine. This is what they do for a living. Find a seller, collect the fee, post it on a website and move on to find another seller. They don't care if the property ever sells.
At some point I would like a return phone call.
