I was contaced via tele and informed that I had been selected as a guaranteed winner of one of four prizes (a lincoln navigator, a wide screen plasma t.V., a $2500.00 shopping spree or an all expenses paid vacation for two). I asked again if one of the four was a guarantee and was told yes and that I definately had won one of the four and that the Lincoln Navigator would be given away on that Saturday. I was asked about income, martial status and age. I was told that age requirement was limited to those under 68 years. I informed the telemarketer I was beyond that age. He asked my age and I told him. He asked me to hold for a moment, came back shortly and told me his supervisor had told him that I was still O.K.
He then made an appointment for me on the 14 of June at 1230, asked me to hold again for quality control to verify my info. An indiviual who idettified himself as a quality control person verified my personal info who I again informed I was beyond thier age limit was asked again to hold, was again informed I was still O.K., congatulated again as a guaranteed winner of one of four prizes that were again detailed was asked if I knew how to play scratch-off as in Texas lottery. I said I did and was told that cards would be used to determine which of four prizes I had won. I was called again later that same day, congratulated on being a guaranteed winner of one of the four prizes and was asked if I would in fact be at thier presentation.
My wife and I reported to the place as outlined at the time specified. Checked in and was sent to a waiting room with many other people. After a short wait my wife and I were called to a private area and was told I was not qualified, due to age, to participate. I was asked a number of questions about my tele interview and what had been promised. I was told that scratch-off cards were not available for that meeting but I did qualify for a gift for attending (cruise vacation) and asked to leave the area.
I have since contacted the customer service office via 800 phone number, was told that marketing would be in contact but that has not happened.
