I have just recently been laid off. Im a father of three loving childern and real good guy. I went to truck driving school in bishopville, sc with Xtra mile driver training and i really got all my moneys worth and then some. From the trainers to the office personal the are all number one in my book thanks guys. Werner Enterprises $772.09 million (1997) time as been very good for this company so get ready to be shocked.
May 19th I was scheduled to be in Atlanta for a 3 day orientation. Upon arriving I was booked into the Suburban hotel which was nice, however on the second day I as well as 13 other people was notified that no trainers at that terminal were available. Arrangements were made for rentals for us to travel to Omaha, telling us that if we paid for the gas we would be reimbursed. After a day and a half of steady driving we got to the home terminal. Upon arriving we met with our SDMs (mine was Cheryl Cole) then we were taken to the Ben Franklin hotel (aka 'roach hotel'). We returned the rentals to the airport and were told that we were responsible for refilling the fuel tanks as well as paying for the taxi back to the roach hotel. I paid for the taxi ($51) because Werner did not make the proper arrangements with the taxi company as they said they would. The next morning we find out that there are only 4 available trainers for 13 people, and whoever did not get 'lucky' enough to get a trainer at that time would have to sit and wait for 5 to 7 days until someone showed up. My SDM calls me at 9am on that Thursday and tells me that my trainer will call me by 10 am to make arrangements to leave.By 4pm I had yet to hear from the trainer and I spoke with the SDM again and was then told that the trainer was going home for the weekend including Memorial Day and I would have to continue to wait until Tuesday in the 'roach hotel' for him to show up.By this point I was tired and hungry as the food they said they would provide consisted of dry burnt toast and oj that ran out. I was exhausted from lack of sleep due to the filthy conditions of the 'roach hotel' there were stains on the walls of the room and in the bathroom with a rug that had filth that left something compared to mud on my shoes. This was considered a 'remodeled' room. I can't imagine what the old rooms could have possibly been like. I slept on the bed in my clothes for fear of contracting some sort of communicable disease. I called the SDM stating that I was ready to return home and they offered a $155 bus ticket in a neighborhood that could politely be called 'crack town'. Others that took this offer waited in that dangerous area for at least 2 hours before a Werner shuttle van came to pick them up. To make a long story short I finally found plane tickets to get back home on Memorial Day weekend that ended up costing me a grand total of $1551 just for the ticket not including taxi fee of $62 to get to the airport. If I had stayed in Omaha up til now you may have also seen me list my doctor bills for the diseases that I possibly could have picked up from that dump they call a hotel/terminal.
I'm home now and happy. I have lived and learned, saddened and hurt but I will be ok. I now know that Werner is not the company for anyone, especially me.
