I had surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Nov. My final release wasin April. The total ankle surgery performed by Dr. DeOrio at the Mayo Clinic was a success. A short lived success of 5 months. I contacted Dr. DeOrio who moved to Duke University. I spoke only to his secretary and explained to hurt my ankle was feeling pain again. She got back to me with a doctor who might be able to help but he no longer does this procedure.
I wrote Mayo Clinic and asked who had taken over Dr. DeOrio's patients. I am still waiting for a answer.
All the while I am making monthly payments on my bill.
When I ask for a copy of my medical records I am told that it will cost me. I finally received my records and found some things that disturbed me. Things I was not told about by my doctor. I wrote Mayo Clinic a letter stating I wanted this matter to be looked at and that I would no longer pay my bill.
A notice came back from Mayo asking for more details and I was told they would look into and get back to me. Still no word from them. They have put my bill with a collection agency. They called and I explained the situation to them. I faxed them all my correspondence with Mayo. I am waiting for them to get back to me which will be faster than Mayo.
I thought Mayo was the best. I thought that Mayo put their patients first, They don't. Not once during this period of phone calls or letter writting did someone say to me I am sorry to hear about your ankle, we will fix it, We will stand behind our name. Mayo will treat you good until there is a problem and then you are dirt.
