I was greeted on a July evening by a charming young man selling magazines. He was trying to earn points for a trip so I decide I'll renew a subscription that I already receive. He was an excellent salesperson that made it hard to say no and besides, it would really help this kid out. Or so I thought.
After signing my check and sending him on his way, I had an uneasy feeling. You always hear about scams so when I googled the company and only found bad news, I was disappointed. I tried to follow the information on the receipt but there wasn't any helpful information on either side or copy. It was a dead end. The only bad thing about that is my husband and I didn't cross paths until I had already fallen for it but wasn't home to fill him in yet. I returned to my husband being so thrilled with his new purchase of magazines also. Strike two!
Here it is the beginning of December and still no sign of any of my husbands magazines nor an increase in my subscription on my current magazine. Disappointing but definately learned from that mistake. Make sure the people knocking on your door are local and backed by your local schools. I'm only glad that our amount was only $100. It could have been much worse!
