My son was born May 18. The father, Dean Gonzalez was not present at the birth. Dean denied he was the father until the paternity test proved otherwise.in September child support was orderd at $100/week.in June child support was modified to include medical support. Dean was ordered to pay an additional $80/month.
Dean is constantly months in arrears. I cannot have his wages garnished bcause he is self employed. We have been to court 3 times for Ajudication of Indirect Civil Contempt. Dean always claims he cannot pay because of being self employed his income varies. However in September Dean purchased a $196,000 home in Lakewood Falls of Plainfield. He lives there alone. This is bothersome for 2 reasons.
1) He can afford a mortgage, plus the cost of taxes, insurance, association dues and utilities. Yet he constantly "cries poor" and cannot manage to pay $480/month for child support.
2) He claims to make less than$25,000/year. I can do math. He cannot afford that house let alone get qualified for a home loan on the salary he claims.
Also Dean and I work in the same field. I know alot of people who know him. I also know some of his friends. I constantly hear stories of how many parties Dean has. I also hear stories of how much he goes out to bars and restaurants and all the money he spends. I have legally obtained evidence and indisputable proof of this.
In June we had a court date (through Illinois Child Support Enforcement). This was a show cause and discovery hearing. Dean did not show up. There was another courtdate set for July and Dean was ordered to send in his tax returns for the last 2 years. Dean did not appear at the second court date and failed to provide the ordered discovery information. An arrest warrant was issued. Dean was arrested August 4 and posted $5,000 bond.
Dean is now pursuing visitation. Dean has never asked for visitation rights. He rarely sees my son by choice. (maybe because he too busy at bars or his parties?!!) Every time he has seen my son it was because I made all the arrangements and drove my son to/from Dean's house. I stopped doing that because it's not my responsibility nor is it my legal obligation. Some times Dean goes 6 months or more without even speaking to me. He is also an alcoholic and has had 2 DUI's.
I completely respect Deans right to see his son. However because of Dean's lifestyle, lying and drinking I have concerns for my son's welfare. It also seems suspicious that now that he has gone to jail and will be forced to pay child support he is trying to get visitation. I feel like he is trying to use my son to hurt me. He it too ignorant to realize he is hurting all 3 of us by his actions.
