Michael P. Shallman, MD was married for 30 years. He fathered 7 children and turned to perscription drugs over 10 years ago. He went to a rehab facility for 6 months while his wife and 5 very young children were left at home to figure it all out financially.
His wife worked him through medical school as well as set up his office and ran his office for 15 years. Michael was divorced May and did pay child support and spousal support for one year but continuously threatened his ex wife and trashed her to their children.
June he stopped paying any child support/spousal support. He remarried without telling one of his 7 children about his plans in April. Neither did he ever introduce the woman to even one of his children. They bought a house and took out a $970,000 mortgage in Sept. Of 2006.
Michael's ex wife went to child support services but they were only able to get a few months of child support (no spousal support) from him.
There is a court mandated order for him to pay not only child support, but he is in the arrears and must pay that back as well. He is now in contempt of court.
His comment to his children is that he doesn't even have money for gas even though he is still working his private gastroenterology practice out of St. Mary Medical Center Hospital.
His children are now 14,16, 18,20, and 21. Their mother is the sole provider for them, their education, as well as their well being.
He has abandoned his children emotionally, physically, financially. He states that he is the victim.
It is believed that he is hiding money through his new wife who is now running the administrative part of the practice out of their home.
For a thriving practice that was established July 1,1981, this practice is now being run into the ground as well as the care of patients is questionable.
