This story is extremely sad and true. I am currently studying for my masters in education and decided to take an temporary job so that I could by x-mas presents this year.
I worked as a temp for west gate resorts. To say that the working conditions were a step above poverty would be an extreme compliment.
First area of concern, my shift was from 3:30 to 9:30. Which means I got off at night. I am a small female barely 5 feet tall barely weighing in at 120. The parking lot is vast and extremely dark, at anytime i could of been abducted and no one would have heard me. If you live in the Orlando Area you probably have seen those fliers of the girl that went missing on Westgate property. As soon as I saw the parking lot I knew how the poor girl could have disappeared. They offered a shuttle but on my first day the driver of the shuttle almost ran me over.
I would say I would at least have to walk about 5 city blocks to my car if I was lucky. The parking lot was also extremely flithy. The actual building is set up worse than a factory. You literally work on top of each other.
I was hired for data entry. Basically my job was to enter in the leads that this blood sucking greedy company pestered its already disadvantaged owners for.
My so-called supervisor Alba, was a pretty shady individual to say the least. She felt the need to tell me and the other temps all of her buisness. How she was broke and her husband got laid off and she really needed the over time. She also felt to the need to tell me all of her boss's (Mary Perez) business as well. I felt it terribly stessfull that Mary Perez's daughter in-law was also a 'supervisor' as well. They also felt the need to talk poorly about each other behind each other's backs constantly. I felt like I was in high school, only in high school I made more than 8 dollars an hour.
Here comes the drama, which I knew was inevitable. My supervisor Alba, told me and another temp to slow down and not do so much or else it would be more work for us to do at the end of the night. We listened.
The next day I'm on my way to the hell hole when I get a message from the temp agency telling me not to report to work, and they didn't need my services due to my production!!! I was relieved. God works in mysterious ways. Basically Alba purposely made it look like Westgate didn't need temps so she could do more overtime, and pay off her $700 cable bill!!!
This story comes with a warning. Do not buy timeshare from westgate. Low-class employees = low class product. They will lie cheat and steal to get your hard earned dollars.
