I received a phone call today 9/13 at 1:38pm. It was a gentleman by the name of Lamar Operater #14. He said he was with Distinct Advantage and was calling because I had qualified for a free trip, $100.00 gas card and a $500.00 Gold Member card.
I had told the man that I was not interested, but he said there was NOTHING to buy it was all free to me. He said he just needed to CONFIRM some information and we would be on our way. Being that I am not a trusting person I decided to go ahead and listen to what he wanted to "confirm" He proceeded to tell me my Full name, address and Telephone number. I was wowed at this but continued to listen.
The guy told me to come up with a password so that I could access my accout, I just thought of the first thing that came to mind, only because I wanted to hear what else he had to say. He then repeated to me the name of the Bank that I bank with. When I asked him how he got that information he told me it was in their systems and he was just an operator.
I said ok, he then proceeded with my account number, routing number. I like to had fell out of my chair. Outraged I asked him again how he got this information. He then told me that I had purchased something from an affilate of theirs, I asked him to tell me what affilate I had purchased from and he refused to tell me.
As this Conversation is going on I entered the name "Distinct Advantage" into my search engine to only find LOTS of scam reports. I told "Lamar" that I knew this was a scam and that I was contacting local authorities and my bank. I did contact my bank and have LOCKED my account, and will be closing and opening a new one tommorrow.
While on the phone with my bank my husband decided to call the customer service number given by Lamar to speak to someone about this. The guy told my husband he "Assures" him that they do not have this info and it was never repeated to me. But was very RUDE about it. The number he called was 800-853-9982.
Now I am furious. While on the phone with them a call From the same 727 # came in. My husband called back and a lady with "Suntasia Marketing" answered only to verify that I wanted to cancel. Are you kidding me. I never ordered anything nor did I agree to order anything. When my husband asked her how she got all of our info, because we had not given them any, she said let me transferr you. And did so to a guy who only hung up on my husband.
I am outraged about this and I just hope that everyone that receives these calls will report them also.
