North Carolina Division Of Motor Vehicals
Rip off

About 10 YEARS ago, I got a speeding ticket in North Carolina. I made the mistake of not paying the ticket on time, so it went to court. Later on down the road I went to re-new my license in the state of New Hampshire, and they told me I had to pay a fine to North Carolina first. This was is April. I called the phone number given to me, they explained all I had to pay. I paid it. North Carolina then sent me a paper that said my driving privilages were RE-INSTATED. I gave that letter to my D.M. V here in New Hampshire. I got my License back...

HERES THE RIP OFF... July I pay off a ticket here in New Hampshire, and they tell me license is suspended until I pay a fine in North Carolina AGAIN. Note: I have NOT been in this state since said incident. I called them up they told me I paid my fees and fines, but never paid a re-instatment fee to Nort Carolina. I asked why I got a letter saying I was all set, they told me I shouldn't have gotten a letter and asked if I still had proof of payment. I explained that I gave the letter to my DMV, and didn't think I would need to save such proof seeing as I got my license back. After arguing with someone for 15 minutes or so, I realized that this wasn't going anywhere, and I needed my license back A.S.A.P.

Heres where it begins. I Agree to pay the fine AGAIN, they tell me I can either mail the payment, and it would take about a week to clear my license... (Not good enough) OR I could "Western Union my Payment"... They do not take credit cards payments. They give me the number to what they said was Western Union, and a ref.# I call the number, which isn't Western Union AT ALL. And is NO WAY linked to Western Union, they are a Carrying Service, which takes my $35 plus my fee, and brings it over to the D.M. V along with every other out of state fee, I assume they make a trip every 3 hrs. $35 and then they said because I paid before 11:30, my fee would reach the D.M. V by noon, and they would then post it on the Nation Network by the end of the day, and my state would clear it by Monday, or Tuesday (Today is Friday). For $35 I think this should be INSTANT. I went online to the D.M. V Website for North Carolina, where residents of this state can do all kinds of things, pay for things by credit card on the web, renew thier registration for there cars, and more. If I lived in the state, I could just pay a sub station the fine, and be settled.in the year 2006 I should be able to pay my ticket by credit card over the phone, like every other state.instead the state of North Carolina has picked a Carrying Service, and made them RICH. Who's service is this, maybe a relative of some one in office? Sounds pretty bazzar does it not. Since when does Goverment offices advertise for companies, and give them such contracts. I think this is a way for them to rip off anyone from out of state that needs to pay a fine fast. I am so upset over this, I could almost care less that the state is already screwing me out of the $50 again.

Keep all records of payment to this state...

When I asked if they had a "Folder" with physical paper work on this case, they told me "No we don't have anything like that, it's all in the system". I said "What if the system crashed?" she responded. "Well, if that happen, everyone would have to wait until the system came back up"

Brains of the operation. So your telling me, if a virus ever hit the DMV on strong, the licenseing would come to a halt. Huh
