Ripoff didn't pay me agreed salary after I questioned business practices

I worked at One Stop Motors for a short period. My job was to sell advertising to individuals wishing to sell their vehicle.in my short time at OSM, I heard an extremely high number of complaints from previous unhappy customers who had been ripped off by OSM.

I questioned OSM on the extremely high number of complaints that all sales representatives were receiving. I was told not to worry about it and that every business gets some complaints. I wanted to believe them but...

After two weeks and hearing dozens of complaints from unhappy customers, I politely submitted my resignation. I simply could not continue to knowingly rip people off.

OSM never sent me my final paycheck. So, I left messages on their machine but they were not replied to. Finally I drove to OSM to get my check. It took awhile but they did eventually find the check. My name was spelled wrong on the check, even though I had told OSM of the same error the previous week. Even so, I thanked OSM and walked out.

Upon opening the envelope of my paycheck, it was clear OSM had underpaid me by $250. I immediately returned and politely pointed out the error to a staff member. She was researching the mistake when the main sales guy, (Cory Pratam, a true sleeze and high pressure salesman) told me to leave. I politely told Cory I had come to OSM to get my paycheck because OSM had not sent me my check, nor had they responded to my messages left on their answering machine.

Cory told me that former employees were not allowed on company property. I told him I had not been told of the rule but that because my phone calls and messages had been ignored, I was only there to get my check... And now to get the mistake corrected. I told Cory I was patiently waiting to talk to authority.

Cory became very threatening. I remained professional but Cory did not. Cory was out of control and unpredictible. I had no choice but to calmly and politely leave OSM.

I wrote a letter to OSM management of the error. New employees had been told over and over by the individual training new employees (Wendy) that as long as new employees arrived on time and were not absent, they would get $250 in each of their first 4 paychecks as a hiring bonus. This was told over and over.

OSM responded to my letter by sending a form I had signed that showed they were not obligated to pay the $250 that they verbally promised over and over would be paid.

It was my signature and obviously I had in fact signed it somewhere along the way. I have absolutely no knowledge of the signing though... None whatsoever. I wish a video recording of everything happening at OSM was available for all to see. Unfortunately...

Speaking of recordings, I wish I had a tape recorded Wendy's words. More than once... Several times or more she assured us that we would be paid the $250 if we arrived on time and were not absent. She also stated in order to be elibible that an employee had to 'make at least one deal.' I met every obligation Wendy stated.

One Stop Motors is a dirty room filled with booths and a telephone in each one. Employees are given lists of people to call or are given a Trader magazine where individuals have listed their vehicles. A few employees have been at OSM for awhile but most are like me and only stay a very short while. OSM doesn't keep their word and employees quickly become aware of the unethical practices and lies told by OSM.

There is no organization at OSM. As a result, some customers are called over and over. Others request not to be called again but there is no system to prevent this abuse.

OSM took the money from the customer but through a clever play on words, OSM didn't give what the customer believed had been promised. There is no doubt that OSM can point to success stories and satisfied customers. However, my experience at OSM exposed a high number of customers who were very unhappy and rightfully felt ripped off.

The only training given to new employees is to get the credit card number of the customer. Accuracy, service and doing what is promised is not practiced to any significant degree.

There is much more to tell but authority has advised me not to reveal it here. I will do whatever I can to shut down the sleeze and dishonest practices of OSM. I've taken private actions, but more is needed. I'd be happy to work with other indiduals or groups and help in any way I can to speed up the demise of OSM by exposing the deceptive, and unethical practices. These people are sleeze and only have a goal of screwing over as many people as they can.

A piece of advise, NEVER EVER agree to anything a salesman is selling over the telephone. Perhaps??? Some is legitimate but there are too many places like OSM that are out to get credit card numbers and then neglect their promises
