I have had two different prisoners at Union CI in Raiford Florida, write me over this topic. The prisoners are not allowed to advertise for penpals but may have them. Although, just recently everyone on Death Row who may/may not have had penpals have been sent to the "hole" for 30 days. Along with this punishment many who have been suspected of having penpals are not allowed to have correspondence for 180 days. Thus they are not allowed to have mail from their loved ones nor are they allowed to send mail. As many people do not know what the "hole" is, it is a place for punishment like solitary confinement. And all of this for having trying to have a decent friendship.
