I recieved a call from Advantage America on Friday September, 30th.initially they asked for my son, whom i told was away at college in California. Then they asked if i was family, i told them i was his mother, and they said i was elligible for a grant.
They said i WOULD get $12,500 in grant money, and that all i had to do was pay a $49.95 fee. The man on the phone did not speak very good english and said his name was Harris Rogers, which he spelled out to me first and i pronounced it, and it seemed as though he didnt know what his own name was.
I was hoping to purchase a home in the near future, and imagine my suprise that i could get a government grant. I gave them my checking account no., but i was unable to get through the verification process, because i was cut off.
During the conversation they had given me a web address, which my son looked up. The site was terrible, some blurry picutures, and no other information about them, it made no sense, and that alone looked like a rip off. They called a few more times that day.
Then October 1st they called and i was away. My 17 year old son answered the phone, and they asked him if i had told him about them, he lied and said no. They then told him that i had left in a hurry, they asked if he was a family member he said yes, they asked if they knew what bank i had, he said yes, then they asked for routing numbers, he told them he should not be doing this, they asked, "Why should you not be doing this?". My son said that he was my son, and they said that he could do it, then my son hung up on them.
October 2nd they called and left a message and seem rather annoyed.
