Online, Healthy Living Magazine Natural health information publisher disseminating FALSE health information to Sell Products! Ripoff, Nationwide

The other day, a friend gave me a copy of an article entitled "Scientific Advances for Enlarged Prostate & Cancer Prevention" from a natural health magazine called "The Doctor's Prescription for Healthy Living" (also known as "Healthy Living"). The article was taken from Volume 7, Number 9, "The Men's Health Reporter" section, pages 3-5.

This magazine, published and edited by David Steinman, is chock full of misinformation, false medical data, and scare tactics. Case in point, in the article referenced above, Steinman claims, "There is no doubt that virtually every man in America today will face either prostate cancer or BPH [benign prostatic hyperplasia] at some point in his life." In point of fact, only one in three men will, at some point in their lives, have some type of unspecified prostate problem. And within that 33 percent, only a relatively small number will be diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Steinman goes on to say, "In fact, most of us have some prostate cancer cells by the time we are in our late twenties." This statement is not supported by any current urological data. Furthermore, it would only stand to reason that, if this were true, urologists would recommend a PSA test, digital rectal exam, and even biopsy - beginning at age twenty for men. The recommended age for men with no prior family history is 50.

In the article, Steinman seems to formulate a link between prostate cancer and enlarged prostate.in point of fact, there is no link between the two. Enlarged prostate does not cause cancer. Furthermore, Steinman's assessment of the mortality rates of prostate cancer patients are vastly exaggerated.

Steinman's sole purpose in publishing The Doctor's Prescription for Healthy Living magazine is to scare unsuspecting individuals into purchasing their advertised natural-health product.in fact, The Doctor's Prescription for Healthy Living magazine exists ONLY to promote the products it partners with. The spurious, unsubstantiated nature of the claims made therein bear this out.

These people, Steinman included, are NOT doctors. Their claims cannot be substantiated by medical science. Their sole purpose - at its core - is to promote and sell a product.
