After many many questions in regards to health and soundness issues... And supposedly honest answers from Marshia Morton of Morton Quarter Horses I bought a mare from her on May 7th. The mare arrived by horse transport on May 11th. Within an hour of the mare arriving I was emailing photos back to Marshia Morton in regards to the hock injuries and blemishes on the mare.
Left front hoof with apparent fever rings and poor hoof health. Photo taken on May 11th.
Marshia Morton did not disclose these scars and blemishes in any way shape or form during our email and telephone conversations. She guaranteed the mare sound before I purchased her and boasts on her webpage that she is "honest". This mare had also recently foundered and by the fever rings in her hooves it was all too apparent. Her reply to the photos was that her vet Dr. Retz had given the mare a flexion test on the day the mare was transported. I called Dr. Retz myself and asked her if she had given this mare a flexion test for soundness. Dr. Retz told me "no she hadn't given the mare this test, the only thing she had done was an exam for a health certificate". Marshia became very upset when I told her I would take this mare to Kansas State University for a soundness workup. She told me to just send the mare back to her. The mare was delivered back to Marshia Morton on May 16th.

Marshia was to wire the money back to our account the next day. This has not been done. To further prove that she lies, she is trying to sell the mare to other buyers and has told them the mare is sound. If they ask her questions in regards to the mare's hoofs, she does not answer and skirts the question. This lady is a total liar and a thief.
