Adtec Advertising Dishonest, deceptive pyramid type business scheme High pressure tactics

I recieved a reply after applying to adtec advertising. They proceeded to send me a message soon after claiming they can schedule me for an interview as soon as possible.

I called and spoke to a receptionist named Kelli. I was surprised at how the times were open and could go in almost any day of the week. The positions were described as entry level.

The interview seemed normal but I had the hints. Two of us were in at a time. The manager, Todd Cook (253) 225-1141 cell, interviewed me and another gentleman. The interview was very vague. Talk of fast track to management and a no seniority system. He would talk about the promotions and how it was good for the companies involved but never got into specifics on how they actually worked. No details were given as to the positions they were "hiring" for but he said they were customer service and entry-level. He never asked us if we had questions only if we had seen the website which was http://www.grantonmarketing.net. The interview was probably a maximum of 5 minutes in length. He talked about how he was a "manager" for the Los Angeles Kings hockey team and how the company was sports-minded.

Todd concluded the interview by claiming they would contact us if our "references" checked out. Sure enough, at about 5:30 Todd called but I didn't answer. I called back at his cell phone number (253) 225-1141. He told me that the second interview would be a "job shadow" and last from 10am-8pm. I agreed.

I met the person I was going to "shadow". His name was Jeff. We walked outside and I had no idea where we were going since I thought we would tour the "office" but he told me we were going in his car. Another guy joined us and we headed out. I asked where we would going but they wouldn't say. This made me very uneasy. The "trainer" told me to write stuff down. Some exercises I guess. Then we arrived at Papa Johns Pizza. One of their "clients". Jeff claimed to have a "meeting" set up with the manager. Of course the manager their had no knowledge of anything. She did approve of the deal and signed off on it. The deal was a card sold for 27.00 with tax to people and in turn get some pizza deals.

Then he said we would "head out". We go to a residental neighborhood and they proceed to sell. They also have other promotions with other companies. That was some sort of dayspa and Olympic Paintball (I think the name of the company). They sat me down in a restaurant and proceeded to grill me about joining them and how I was stupid for not. They were doing their very best. For about 2 hours straight they would let up. Also claiming they were losing time by doing this. On the way back I was continually hammered into joining. I refused. After I got to the office I shook their hands and left.

I knew it wasn't right. They have no positions. You are a door to door salesmen and they claim to move you up to management within a month. They say you will train others to do the door to door business. They have empty promises and use high pressure tactics. The other guy that was with us they claimed he was "training" but I still believe he was a plant designed to convince me to join. I feel bad for the people that fall into this. I felt cornered because they brought me all the way out far away from the office.
