Complaint / Review
Elle Buford
Consumer Report

Even though this is a little long, trust me... It's worth your time.

I would like to file a complaint against an individual with the presumed "alias", Elle Buford. I was looking into purchasing a MacBook Air, and I found a brand new one from 2012 from said person, and I quickly got in touch with "her". She said she had recently moved to Edmonton, Canada, but was still willing to sell it to me at the same price. I then asked for proof of the product with pictures, which she promptly replied to. I said I was willing to purchase it and was eager to continue. She then told me that she found a neat service called Collect that would deliver the product, I would pay them, I would inspect the product before the money went to Elle, and if I was satisfied, I would notify the company and the transaction would be complete. If I wasn't both parties would be refunded their products/money. Seemed legit...

But a small voice in my head said, "It's too good to be true... Better double check that first." So I simply googled her email address, [email protected]... And that's when it hit me. Page after page of complaints against this "Elle Buford" came popping up on ScamBook, and they all sounded exactly like my story: Looking for a new product, they were selling it at an unbelievably low price, they were sent back an email about Collect (or a similarly titled company), but here's where it gets interesting.

All the people sent the money to Collect, and once they did so, all communication from Elle and Collect ceased immediately. People were out anywhere from $200 to over $1000! So HERE'S MY WARNING TO YOU... Collect is a legit company, no doubt. But you have to be careful. The URL she sent me was a phishing address. Here's how you can tell the difference:

Legit Site: www.collectplus.co.uk

Phishing Site: http://www.edmnt-collectplus.com/en_language.internet. Transactions/index.html

Notice how the phishing site has tons of added "categories" on the end? Yeah. That's fake. The site looks real down to the menus and the logo, even the disclaimers at the bottom. Some people said the invoices looked legit too. But don't buy it... Literally. Or you'll be sorry.
