I called Appliance n More, 262-691-3497 or 414-476-7611, and asked how much was a trip charge, and I was told that the trip charge was free and the charge would be added into the repair cost. When the repair person, Bernie arrived, he said it looked as though the washing machine could not be repaired.
He told me that I owed him $85, and I asked, "$85 for what?" He said, "I loved fixing things, but this is not repairable." I also had to request a receipt, because he was not going to give me one.
I then called the company that he's affiliated with Allied/Alliance Appliance Repair, Bill West, owner, 6143 W. Coldspring Road 201, Greenfield, WI 53220 414-899-4022. Bill also stated that Bernie charged me too much, and said his trip charge is $40.
I read to Bill what Bernie wrote on the invoice, and Bill stated that it did not sound right. He thinks the washer could be repaired. Bill is 77 years old and perhaps he could not turn the washer over to give it a thorough inspection.
I feel as though $35 or $40 would have been reasonable, but not $85.
