Citi Financial a Financial Express Company
Consumer Report

I received a letter today, 5-15. The letter stated I had won $50,000 in a Consumer Promotion Draw. They sent me a check for $2,850.00 and stated that was a check to be deducted from the $50,000 that I was entitled to. Because this draw was held in the United Kingdom, the letter stated I needed to make a tax payment of $960.00. This letter mentioned that this draw was organized for all customers of the participated retail stores in North America and United Kingdom. They stated that the stores included Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Best buy, Safeway, Office Depot, Novartis, Staples and Sears. I did not try to cash this check because I am of the mind-set if it's too good to be true then it isn't. I decided to do some of my own investigating and learned there a lot of people who have received a similar letter/check. I was assigned a British tax officer by the name of Mrs. Anita Mendez located at 6 Bond St. London, United Kingdom. W5 5ap. I was requested to send the $960.00 Tax Clearance Fee by Western Union or Money Gram. I also was advised to contact a Payment Handling Officer. Either Ms. Julia Jones or Mr. Paul Anderson. The Phone number given was 866-853-9422 between 8am and 6 pm. Monday-Saturday. I did call this number and the man answered in a foreign voice. He asked what type of flight I needed. After asking him again to repeat the question, I did not hear a reply. I went on to explain the letter/check I received after that I did not hear a reply and the phone went dead.
