Joe Shaw took a deposit check of $32,099.00 in the spring of 2004 to build an addition on my house. He told me he would begin work as soon as my permits came through. My permits were issued on June 3. From that point on, it's been next to impossible to get him to return a call or come to my house. To date, he has ripped up my yard and poured some foundation. My yard looks like the city dump.
I have piles of dirt, bolders, and rotting wood, nails, etc... All over my property. After reporting Joe to the BBB I finally got a return call from him on Monday (11/29/04). He said the reason he hasn't been working on my house is because he has no funds. He used my money for another job and it doesn't look as if he will see any of it. Anyway, he said that is "all" that happened - he's "sorry" and "good bye". Between the deposit, the money I have spent in permits, tree removal, fees, plumbing upgrades, etc... Needed for the addition I have lost a great deal of money. The yard being ripped up has reduced the value of my property as well. If I had to guess, I would estimate this creep has cost me maybe $45,000. Meeting Joe Shaw was a nightmare, and I only wish I had known then what I know now. He SEEMED like such a nice guy.
