Filmed Ruined

Photography is my passion and I wanting to save time, went to Target last week I went to have 2 rolls of film developed. I have had film developed there before and I have never been unsatisfied with the results until now. One of the rolls of film that I had brought in was a professional roll of film, black and white. I was unaware of the fact that Target did not have the proper developers to develop this type of film, and apparently so did the person who went ahead and tried to develop it anyways. Because of trying to develop it they ruined the film completely, having the film exposed to light without actually developing it. When I came back to pick up the film they said that the pictures from the one roll would be free because the other roll of film didn’t say “professional” on it so they tried to develop it and they ruined the film. They said sorry and continued to explain to me how it didn’t say professional, and that was about it. I told them then it was incredibly frustrating that they even tried to develop it if that type of film wasn’t able to be developed there.

I was incredibly frustrated that the canister of film was even opened, if it hadn’t of been opened I gladly would’ve developed it myself. Just because a roll of film doesn't say professional on it, does not mean the roll of film isn't of professional grade. I can't tell you heart wrenching it is that those memories in the film are now gone. They were from a trip I went on years ago and had lost the roll of film and found it recently and now they are gone forever. I know it's cheesy, but a picture has a thousands words in it, a thousand memories, not something that "sorry we ruined your film!" can fix. Please, please, please train your developers at Target what rolls of film aren't able to be developed! I felt as if it was because of lack training and lack of knowledge that my film was ruined, a mistake that could have been prevented if they had known what they were doing and what type of films aren’t able to be developed.
