I called ATT Internet service in June to try to negotiate a lower monthly Internet / DSL service cost. I was told by a "Retention" Representative they could arrange a decrease in my monthly bill from the current charge which was more than $30 a month to $14.95. All I had to do was agree to "Combine" my ATT Cell Phone account and the ATT Internet DSL accounts. I specifically asked if ANYTHING would be changed on my cell phone account and was assured it would not. With that assurance, I agreed. A few days later I tried to pay my cell phone bill in the usual way, using my cell phone, but was not allowed by ATT to do that. I then tried to pay the bill on line. Again no luck. I then mailed (USPS) the check. I called, what would be the first of MANY, MANY calls, and asked they seperate my DSL from Cell accounts. Well, I have been assured this was done on at least NINE (9) different calls, so far! I believe the cell phone portion of my bill is now correct. However, my bill for Internet shows over $400 each month. Keep in mind I have continued to pay both my Cell Phone charges and Internet Charges each month since June when this nightmare began. The last three times I've called. (one of which I actually spoke to someone who said he recognized my name from a previous call) I've been told "it takes a while to get this straightened out" and "We have had several calls and complaints from people who have combined their bills". My Internet bill still shows a "Past due" amount in excess of $400 each month. Now it seems the new amount being billed for my internet is $9.95 per month, not the $14.95 to which I agreed in June. I continue to pay what ever ATT lists as my current or new amount owed each month. I have requested a consumer complaint form from the Attorney General. Take my advice... Save yourself Stress... Do not fall for the combined bill scam!!
