I was hired as a local sales rep for PeopleDeals.com (part of a larger company called PeopleString.com)
The "VP of Sales", Christopher Wishnie and I spent several hours on the phone discussing the company and their plans to launch their Daily Deal site, with a social media component. I signed a contract to work locally as a sales rep and I earnestly went out and signed several local businesses up for their BETA test.
I was contacted by Mr. Wishnie and told that the CEO had decided not to pursue the market I was working and that they could no longer use me. I was assured that I would be paid for my work up to that point.
That same day, I logged in to input my orders and the whole section of that website was disabled and changed, so there was no way for me to submit my businesses.
This was the last I heard from the company. I was definitely screwed out of the commissions for my hard work, but, more importantly, I was embarrassed in my local community. Now, when I go to present legitimate media to local businesses in the future, my credibility will be put into question.
Businesses and sales reps, beware of Chris Wishine, PeopleDeals.com and peoplestring.com. They will NOT help your business and certainly not provide a career opportunity.
