On June 10th, I was searching the internet for employment opportunities, when out of nowhere a pop-up hit my computer saying that a worm was detected and click here to rid the program. Thinking this was information from MicroSoft, I did and from there I was not able to get rid of the pop-up.
I booted my computer, thinking this might help but to no avail. After about 40 minutes trying to find this link somewhere inside my computer, I paid the $79.95 unwillingly (since I am unemployed and needed the money) but I need my computer to find employment also. So I bite the bullet and unwilling paid the 79.95. This appeared to fix the problem.
Today, June 14th, I was paying bills on-line, when I received a pop-up saying Malwear was hitting my computer and I needed I-Spy or something like that. I clicked on PC Security Shield and scanned. It said that everything was OK and I had no problems.
So again I was unable to get the pop-up off my screen unless I agreed to pay the $54.95 fee.
I pulled out the receipt from PC Security Shield and called the Customer Service number. A machine answered (of Course) saying that if you wanted a refund send an email request to Customer service and if you needed assistance stay on the line... They it disconnected. I called back and the same thing happened again and again. That was when I questioned the problem.
I contacted MicroSoft Corporation since I run Windows 7 Home Premiere, and was informed that by paying the monies and downloading the program, I put the virus on my computer, it was never there only a bogus message.
MicroSoft could not find where this PC Security Shield hid the program on the computer. It was not in Programs, Application, Utilities etc. But showed on the registry. When we download Microsoft Essentials and ran the first scan we were than able to return the computer to a point prior to my problems on June 10th. Ridding my computer of this infectous program.
PC Security Shield or Cleanyourcomputer.Biz is a bogus program and does not do anything. This company is a rip-off and I have reported this with MicroSoft, my banking Institution and the Better Business Bureau.
Plus when contacting my banking institution, I found they came back for more by increasing the withdrawal to $82.96 which makes it look like they are charging a sales tas to the bank. That way the bank does not question the unethical business practices this company adheres to.
