On December 17, I was working in Microsoft Word when my computer was suddently bombarded with security alert pop-ups that claimed my computer was infected with 33 viruses, worms, etc. Each time I attempted to close a pop-up, 2 more would appear. It would not allow me to reject the offer to purchase the software.in fact, I restarted my computer 3 times and in each situation the pop up reappeared. It denied me access to any other software application, including the internet. After 30 or more minutes of this nightmare, I was forced (as I felt defeated) to purchase the invading software for $49.95. Upon doing so, it purportedly "cleaned" all the infections within seconds and only then was I allowed access to my computer applications. I immediately ran a scan using my malware software and it found 5 infections, namely, 3 Trojan Fake Alerts and 2 other rogue infections.
While there was no phone number, I did manage to complete a form to demand a full refund. I received a reply email from a company named Digital Software which stated that I would receive a refund in 10-15 days.
I phoned my bank and was informed that the billing company of this transaction was Real Soft Gold of Baku, AZ, which is not listed in Directory Assistance nor on the website. Were it not for complaint, I would not have the company's toll free number: 800-507-4599.
I called the number and inquired about the refund which the representative claimed was made the previous day.in addition, I complained about the scam to which he denied having any knowledge or responsibility.
Finally, I did the most important thing: I filed an online complaint with the Arizona Attorney General's Office, which will investigate this matter. I suggest that anyone who has been violated by this sham company, Real Soft Gold, file a complaint as well.
