I wanted to do some job hunting online via hotjobs. Yahoo.com and came across this particular job offer for a Data Entry Clerk at MonkeyJar. Clicking on the "apply" button on the site sent me to a site called Gifted Careers and asks you to fill out their online job application with the usual personal information. Seemed legit enough to me.
But thinking that all I'd have to do was fill out the info and be on my way was wrong. I was sent to other pages that asked for this and fill out that eventually leading up to creating a profile (which includes uploading a photo of yourself) for other employers to see. "Okay" I thought to myself, so after uploading my photo and clicking on the "next page" link, I was then prompted with more information to read about (which I didn't care for) and submit more info.
I started to get suspicious and skeptical so I did a google search on Gifted Careers and lo' and behold, found out this company's a fraud via a youtube video! With the knowledge in hand and utilizing the "back" button on the browser I'd replaced my photo (since I couldn't remove it entirely, go fig) with something not showing anybody, and eventually getting back to the job application page. I erased everything but the "First Name/Last Name" fields had my in grayed out and couldn't be erased.
I went ahead and closed the browser window after that. Now I fear that my info may be used in the future illegally so I'm reporting it.
