Intuit Rebate Ripoff Continues consumer rip-off fraud

For a couple of years, I have been using Intuit's Quicken for my financial needs. Recently, I purchased/upgraded to Quicken 2003 to get the new enhancements. They offered a $20 mail in rebate which required maining in various items, including the original sales receipt from the Quicken 2001 purchase. No where on the outside of the box what this last requirement listed.

Now who in the world keeps sales receipts from 2001? Certainly not I unless it's for a large ticket item.
Instead I mailed in a photocopy of the box bar code, a photocopy of the orginal CD and anything else I could think of that would be relevant.

I got a call from a CS agent at Intuit after I complained, Stacy, who stated that they had to have the original receipt so they could see how much I paid for the 2001 copy. I asked what would have happened if the 2001 copy was given to me as a gift and the reply was "I would not be eligible for a rebate".

Is this a classic case of rip-off or what??? Intuit used to be a great company.
