60 yrs. Old retired lady, solicited by telephone to purchase a business that required me to maintain a website for MABS to advertise their solutions for people with bad debt trouble.
Initially assured me it was a one time charge of only $294.95. Assured me that all approved loans resulting from my referral site would pay me $500.00, regardless of whether the loan was accepted or not.
About a week after the initial phone contact I was contacted again by another rep. Of the company advising that the only way I would get any traffic to my website was with his advertisement campaign, which cost me $7995.00.
He suggested that since I had good credit I would want to charge this to my credit card so that I could pay it back when I received the income from the "business". That way, I would not be out that much cash from my checking account.
That was in Nov. 2007. My income from it has been $00.00. I am still struggling to pay my credit card bill and with the interest rate will be paying for a long time!
I was assured also that I would have coaches and help from the company, I have had not contact from them what so ever!
I asked them to return at least a portion of the money and they refused, I never signed the papers they requested and never returned them.
I have written to both the Colorado and Arizona Attorney General's Office and these regulatory agencies are a JOKE.
At their suggestion, I also appealed to the credit card company (Wells Fargo, Visa) and never even received acknowledgement of any kind.
