After reading the impressive promotional information all over the internet about how the PC Doctor was going to fix my problem with viruses & spyware, I fell prey, bought it and downloaded it.
I had to go away on business for a week and when I came back my wife told me that something was wrong with the computer. I turned it on and watched in horror that everything was taking FOREVER to process.
When I monitored the processor, I saw that PCAV. Exe was the application running and consuming the majority percentage of CPU usage. It was gobbling as much memory as the next 30 processes combined. When I opened the graphic showing the activity of my cpu it was spiking at first and then flat lined at 100%!
I went to the technical support and they had me do a couple of things which were complex and did NOTHING to fix the problem while all the time having to put up with a CPU running at 100% serving both PCTAV.com & pctsSxc. Exe. It took forever to type the commands they gave me and then another forever to have the "Non PC Tools" program to run.
I finally muscled my way in and removed (it took one hour and 25 minutes) the entire suite of programs purchased from PC Tools and rebooted.
Once I got rid of the programs my computer returned to normal.
How is it that there is so much positive press on these people when their product is such crap?
