Sells dangerous, unreliable products which do not meet basic safety requirements

Please do not buy from or use any products from Laptopcharge.com. The company is a ripoff and sells unsafe, unreliable products which fail frequently and do not meet minimum safety standards and the original manufacturers electrical requirements. I have reported them to BBB Canada and US. If you are considering a purchase from Laptopcharge.com, please read my story below.

On 08/19 I visited Laptopcharge. Coms website, searched for the model # of my laptop and subsequently purchased a new charger. Funds were exchanged via Paypal. I never received an acknowledgment from the vendor. On 8/20 I inquired about the status of my order. I was told that the charger would ship on 8/22 a four day delay. The charger finally, but there were problems. The new unit got VERY hot and the power plug did not fit securely. Laptopcharge admitted that they sent an undersized charger but claimed that it was ok to use it. I was very concerned about lack of CSA (comes from Canada), UL or cUL safety approval. Any product sold in Canada nees to be certitied. This product was not. Laptopcharge offered to exchange the charger for a higher current model. Even thought they said it was OK to use the smaller one. My original charger was 4.74A. Heres their response:

Hi — ,
Aspire 5600 series laptops can use either a 19V 4.74A 90W adapter or a 19V 3.42A 65W adapter. If you use a 3.42A adapter to run a laptop needing 4.74A the adapter will run much hotter than it normally runs especially while charging the battery. You can still use the adapter for your laptop, but the adapter will run very hot as you said. If you want to exchange the adapter for a 4.74A adapter we can, but you will have to send the adapter back to us first before we can send you a new one. If you want to exchange the adapter, please fill out the RMA form attached and e-mail or fax it back to us. We will then send you a RMA number and instructions for return.in the meantime you can still use the 3.42A adapter if you need to use your laptop this weekend.
Regards
Laptopcharge

BUT WAIT. Heres what it says on their website!

Buying Tips:
If you find the required specification of your laptop is not the same as what our adapter provides, please note:
1. The required power (which shown in the back of your original adapter and notebook computer) is the minimum power that will turn on your notebook computer. So in selecting a replacement adapter, the provided power has to be equal or greater than the required power.
(Power (W) = Voltage (V) x Current (A)
Ex. 72 W = 16 V x 4.5 A)

They just sent me a charger with provided power LESS THAN the required power.

I kept the charger anyway because I really needed it. A few weeks later the unit became inoperative. I asked Laptopcharge for a replacement AND insisted that they pay for shipping. They refused to pay shipping costs. Keep in mind that the charger they sold me was dangerous, undersized, broken and had the wrong size plug. I asked for a refund. They refused stating that they had a 30 day money back policy. Received my RMA# on 10/25. Received my new charger on 12/4. Coincidentally, they shipped the higher current model but again with the wrong size plug. The new charger ran cooler and worked OK if I jiggled the plug but still did NOT have safety approvals.

One month later, the replacement charger broke. I sent my first request for an RMA on 1/18. I send my third request for an RMA on 1/29. After THREE EMAILs and 11 days I FINALLY received a response. Again I asked for a refund. My request was again denied. I again need to send the unit back and pay $15 for shipping. On 1/30 I was assigned RMA #L1644. I send the unit in on 2/10 after receiving the following EMAIL:
:
Hi — ,
We will provide you fully refund and reimbursement of return shipping after we test out that the return you sent back is defective. We do not provide prepaid shipping.
Regards,
Laptopcharge

On 3/1 I asked about my refund. Received the following EMAIL on 3/3

Hi — ,

We made some mistakes regarding your RMA profile. We will provide you an exchange as the previous email stated (except for the last one). We received your return. Unfortunately, we did not have the adapter in stock last week. We just receive more in stock today. We will put you as priority and we will ship out your exchange within this week.
Regards,
Laptopcharge

On 3/7,3/15 and 3/192008 I inquired as to my status. I never received a response. Finally on 3/20, they asked me to ship the adaptor but I already did! I responded showing them proof of delivery on 2/29. Now its 3/25 and I still do not have my charger. I received the following:

Hi — ,
Our refund policy is within 30-day. We will not provide refund if it's been over 30-day since you purchased the order. We will ship the exchange to you within 2 days.
Regards,
Laptopcharge

Its now 4/12. I still have no refund OR charger so I decided to contact their parent company mentioned on their website. I received the following EMAIL from one of the executives at the parent company.

,

I am (name withheld) of the US branch of Burnaby International Technology and Nexen Technology Inc. I apologize for the experiences you had with laptopcharge and to clarify we are not related to, affiliated with, or doing business with laptop charge or Burnaby Technology International in Canada. We are in the middle of taking legal action against their operation for making use of our name and brand Mr. Battery. Their business practices are highly unethical and we have received numerous complaints from customers who have mistaken them for being a branch of our company. I have forwarded your complaints to their company but I hate for you to have to deal with them again. If you send me your requirements (make, model, etc) I would be happy to send you a replacement adapter free of charge for any confusion that may have occurred. I would also encourage you to make public your complaints regarding laptop charge and the whole operation in Canada and stress they are a fraud and in no way related to our company. Again I apologize for the utterly despicable treatment you have received and assure you we are taking every legal action necessary to prevent this from happening again

Kind Regards,

(name withheld)

It is 4/12, I STILL do not have a replacement.
