Well over a year ago I contracted with Energized Hosting for a web hosting reseller account. During the first year, things went relatively well. The few problems that did come up were quickly dealt with and techical support was always available 24/7.in fact, one of Energized Hosting's claims to fame is that they have 24/7 online technical support and a 99.99% uptime guarantee.
About 4 months ago it was time to renew my annual hosting plan and I did so. About a month after renewing, Energized Hosting sold out to a company called Pugmarks — a U.S. Front for an Indian (as in India) company. The service soon became really crappy.
For several days their e-mail servers were down because of their new support team's technical incompetence. This was fixed, but then their e-mail server again started having problems whereas all mail sent from or received by their e-mail servers was bounced. Even e-mail submitted to their technical support e-mail address bounced as did mail submitted to them via their own webform. Their online 24/7 technical support was (and continues to be) constantly unavailable.
Under their 99.9% uptime guarantee, I asked them for a pro-rated refund. They refused. I then cancelled my hosting account and asked for a pro-rated refund on the year I had paid in advance. Even though their Terms of Service stated pro-rated refunds for cancelled accounts were given, they immediately changed their TOS and refused to refund the remaining 9 months on my hosting plan.
So, not only is their techical support staff extremely incompetent, but Energized Hosting / Pugmarks is also a thief.
Fortunately it seems like I will get a refund via a credit card chargeback.
