starting the month of may i signed up for pacbell dsl service, because they had a promo $29 ($49 reg) for first 3 months. I recieved a self install kit in the mail. Service started 1 day after my billing cycle, that was ok. But after that the service stank.
I was paying for an always on connection but what i recieved was basically "DIAL-UP DSL", thats a pathetic joke for broadband! Sometimes the isp was down and i could not sign on. There was about 5 seperate days worth of downtime during my 2 months service, a modem i can understand, but i pay extra for this. Also my download speed came out to only 3 times my modem speed at average.
But what piss me off most was that i constantly download 24hrs and i leave the computer on all night. Every, i do mean every morning when i wake up, the connection would be dropped. I have never managed to stay connected for more than 2 days straight. I fix computers and there is nothing wrong with it. I switched to broadband cable and it worked fine. I feel that was a breach of my contract for services not recieved, pacbell should be accountable for the downtime. Very unsatisfactory.
I called to cancel and they made me have 3 days prior notice. So they coerced me onto a third month of lousy service. But i want to be compensated for the downtime. I am currently writing them a dispute.
