Fradulent credit card charges

Like many other victims, my credit card has been charged $12.95 for the BusinessMax "service", for the past 5 months. Of course I should have recognized this as a fradulent charge on the first credit card statement. But, like most people victimized by this company, since it was a small charge amongst many on my statement, I assumed it was a charge from OfficeMax or one of the many other services I use for my business. It was not until I realized that I was being charged the exact same amount every month that I understood the activity was fradulent.

My exposure to BusinessMax probably came through ordering products from VistaPrint. Apparently as part of their "checkout" procedure you are basically automatically signed up for this "service", unless you read all of the fine print details of the transaction and follow a very non-intuitive route to complete the transaction. Clearly VistaPrint is also culpable in this fraud, though I imagine it will be hard to prosecute them.

I called the 1-888 number for AP9*BusinessMax listed on my credit card statement, and an automated system allowed me to cancel my "membership". We'll see if this really stops the charges. Tomorrow I will call my credit card company to dispute previous charges, I guess I will find out how customer-oriented my credit card company is.
