Medco mail-in Pharmacy

Medco mail-in pharmacy is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I am a professional in the healthcare industry and I got into this business because I care for my fellow human beings. I have suffered at the hands of Medco twice now. This company does not seem to care for its customers at all, only for their money. I had heard horror stories about Medco and how they take so long filling your prescription that people run out of their medications before they arrive. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a try. After all, the prices are much lower-right? I now can tell you that the physical and mental anguish I have suffered because of this company is not worth the money I can save by using them. The first time was when I first learned that my insurance company would be using Medco for their preferred contracted pharmacy. I did exactly as they instructed me and had my doctor call/fax in my prescriptions. One of them was an extremely expensive medication used to treat my severe sleep disorder. My copayment at my local retail pharmacy, after my insurance paid their share was over $700 for a 30 day supply. Medco offered me a 90 day supply at this price. I had my prescription phoned/faxed to them over 14 days in advance. I thought that I would just wait, check my mailbox, and get my meds delivered to my door. When I got close to running out of the supply I had at home, I called to check on the status if my order. The customer service agent I spoke to said there was a problem with my order. Since I had previously gotten the prescription from my local pharmacy, my dosage had been increased. My pre approval, which I had waited for so long to get from my doctor did not cover the new dosage. Nobody had called, e-mailed, or mailed me anything to inform me of this. I had registered several contact numbers and my e-mail address on the web site. Days after I had run out of my meds, I finally got my approval. Medco came up with one excuse after another until I had suffered enough and went back to my local pharmacy. Months latr, the med finally went generic. Now it only costed a little over $400 for a month's worth of pills. I got a call from Medco telling me that they could get me a 90 day supply for less than what I would pay for one month at my retail pharmacy. I finally gave in and had my doctor fax in a 90 day prescription. I work very hard for my paycheck and was financially strapped from paying so much for my meds. Without this medication, I cannot function. I had basically been working to pay for my pills. This time I checked on my order status often. When I was close to running out, I began to get nervous. Every day a friendly sounding agent would tell me the meds would be sent out that day. They even told me I could go to my local pharmacy and get a 14 day emergency supply. I went to the pharmacy where the pharmacist and my doctor made multiple phone calls to Medco. Hours later I was told the supply could not be approved due to the cost. I spent many days miserable and many hours on the phone in tears. I have never dealt with a more heartless money hungry company. They have serious communication issues. I have a good position at the company where I work. It is a very large corporation and I will make it my main goal to sever the contract my company has with Medco. If it were up to me they would be shut down and nobody else would have to suffer due to their greed and poor business practices. Please do not use Medco mail in pharmacy. If your meication is vital to your life, you could lose your life and die waiting by your mailbox with your phone in your hand.
