Gorayeb Seminars comes twice a year to the hotel where I'm employed, so I'm not writing this report as the jilted consumer. No, I'm writing from an angle that I never thought I'd have to use considering that this is the twenty first century. Each time that Gorayeb Seminars comes to our establishment, the hypnotist (Ron Gorayeb himself) will ask our hotels' sales manager for an employee to help out (signing people in, taking payments, etc.) for some extra cash. Last year, I got to do this and I admit, it was an easy way to make sixty bucks.
So, naturally this year when the opportunity arose, I said I could do this again. Well, all was fine until Ron Gorayeb found out (during a routing confirmation call to our sales manager) that I am a woman. He asked our sales manager if there were any males available to work.
When asked why, Mr. Ron Gorayeb explained that he had had surgery and was unable to lift the three boxes; and he felt that a woman shouldn't have to lift them either.
Now, these three boxes arrived at the hotel already. The heaviest is 31 lbs, followed by 27lbs and 3lbs. Now, I could lift all three boxes together. Our sales manager tried to explain that I was more than qualified to move these boxes, but Ron Gorayeb wouldn't hear it. She told him she thought he was discriminating against me. He still wouldn't budge.
Then later, our sales manager received a call from Mr Gorayeb's boss (his wife perhaps?) and she stood firm on his request for a "man" to move the big bad boxes! Our sales manager let this woman know how she felt about the decision and that they would have to hire from a temp agency from here on out.
Now our sales manager didn't use the term sexual discrimination, but I am! Chivalry may not be dead, but this particular form of chivalry should be! This is the twenty-first century! Women are NOT delicate flowers prone to fainting and fits of hysteria! Get a GODD*MNED clue Ron Gorayeb!
I hope the 'temp' he hires is smelly and unpleasant! I already know he'll be more expensive.
Yes, I could try to sue his arrogant ass, but as you can already guess, if I'm jumping at making an extra sixty bucks, I'm not exactly in the financial position to make a federal case out of this.
I just wanted to present the facts from a different point of view; I didn't get ripped off by buying his vitamins, I got ripped off by being a woman!
