Dazzle White - Dentech Whitening
Free Trial Scam. All Terms Not Disclosed! Des Moines

After getting hooked into this scam, I want to do my part in warning folks. After seeing an add about "whiter teeth" on my MSN homepage, I decided to take a look and see what the add was about. I clicked on the link and was taken to a blog page that detailed steps an average, every day mom took to get trials of two different teeth whitening products for under $4 bucks or so. Supposedly, using the two products together would work wonders on getting one's teeth super white.

The blog details how to go about getting the two trial products, but neglects to mention that getting the trials automatically sets you up for membership with each company, for which they each charge just under $60 for each respective product. When setting up to receive the trials, the Dentech site does give notice that one must cancel membership within 14 days in order not to be charged, but one does have to look carefully to find it.

However, the Dazzle White site gave no such notification. After taking a look at my checking account & seeing a surprise charge of $58 or so, I was a bit frustrated. I intentionally checked all the fine print on both sites before signing up because I was concerned that it would be an automatic enrollment in something I wasn't certain would work. I should have followed my instincts!

I'm sure that the word "trial" legally protects these companies from any action against them. When I called Dazzle White to cancel, she advised that I was charged because the product sent was a 14-day trial. Normally, I would assume that a trial is the same as a sample, but companies are very savvy in choosing the vocabulary they use. All the information I read lead me to believe that what was being sent to me was a sample of each product.in hindsight, I should have known something was not right when clicking on an advertisement link took me to a "blog" created by an "mom."

Ultimately, the "blog" and the company websites are all misleading and do not disclose all necessary information until it is too late. I was charged almost $60 for a stupid little whitening "pen", and was told that I can get my money back if I ship the rest of the product back. Of course, I'd end up paying the shipping & insurance again out of my own pocket. The worst part is, how can I trust that I will get my money back once I send what's left back to the company? The lady I spoke with told my that it would take 7-10 business days for me to get refunded, but how am I supposed to take the word of a company that has already intentionally mislead me? To top it off, how incredibly gross is it that I am expected to send back something that has been in my mouth already? What could the company possibly do with it? Yick!!!
