I was in nc for an extended visit; one that was temporary. So i decided to get a gym membership—they did not disclose that i would be signing a contract for 3 years—they knew i wanted something for less then a year. A couple of months later i open my credit report and low and behold they have it on my record that i have a loan with them for almost 900. Oo and monthly payments of 25.00 like this was some sort of loan... Hello...
I had a fit and tried to cancel but they said just because i left to go back to ny they cannot cancel—because i used a po box as an address because that is what my bank statements and all my other documents including untilities are in... So i was harrassed on the phone.
It was not good enough for them that i said there is an ex spouse who wants to know my location—and does not need to know where i live. He wanted me to make another payment and give htem permission to charge my card for the 50.00 fee to cancel although they may not cancel my membership. So why should i keep making payments for a membership i am not going to use as well as a 50.00 fee for cancellation when they may not even cancel my account? An added benefit is the personal training package they said they would refund and mark on my account. Well now it has disappeared and this guy has said it is not on my account when the woman the day before said it was on my account and she would credit me..
