Advanced Critical Care & Internal Medicine OVERCHARGES FOR VET SERVICES, AND POSSIBLE PUPPY NAPPING

My family and I were on a trip to go to funeral for my father in law when our poor 10 week old baby boxer pup got sick. We rushed her in to ACC&IM to find the problem, after they made us wait outside for 30 minutes in case she was sick with Parvo Disease. They brought her around the back door (where we were not allowed in with her). Eventually we were allowed in the front of the facility only to get confronted about costs and there credit plan. During the entire time that we were they refused to let us see our poor pup. Even when they performed test such as an ultrasound we were not able to be present. The reason for the ultra sound was the "vet" suspected that there was something wrong with her abdominal area. We were later told she had an obstruction in her bowel. We were told she would not live if she did not have surgery. The facility would not release the dog back into our custody unless she was to have the surgery or we would have to put her down. We were told that the surgery would cost a minimum of $3000. Which we later called our local vet (who we have trusted in the past) the following morning, only to find out she would have made the 12 hour trip to get home and it would have only cost us $300-400 for the surgery. OK so back to ACC&IM. During the whole time this was happening, the vet kept on questioning us if there was any way we could come up with the $3000. Eventually when we found out we could not afford the $3000 to fix our pup we were told we could relinquish her to the hospital and they would find someone to invest into her surgery. Well, being decent humane people we agreed out of desperation to help our dying puppy. But our one request was that we were to remain in contact with the one who will take custody of our dog just to find out if the puppy survived and is alright, after that our family would be at peace. We were told that the new guardian (who we never met and is apparently an employee of this medical facility) would allow for us to remain in contact for a reasonable amount of time to call and check on her well being. The next morning when we called the new guardians phone number we received no answer. We called the medical facility and they stated that we released custody of the pup and we had no right to know what is going on. We called for 6 hours straight between this and there Culver City office to be finally told bluntly that she passed away in surgery. These people are uncaring non-sensitive jerks to say the least. Now keep in mind my husband saved away the money to purchase this dog for about 8 months for a birthday present for me. This was a present given to me only a short time prior to my actual birthday and we ended up loosing her on the exact day of my birthday. Did they care? NO! They will give no records to prove she had passed either. I do believe she is alive and they are lying to keep a pure bred beautiful boxer. If they are telling the truth why did they not want to give us her records or even have the consideration to do the right thing by at least informing us of her state of being? I only received 2 minutes to say good bye to my baby! I've cried several days over this. Don't let this happen to you.
