Ripoff: VPI won't pay their claims

I have been using VPI Pet Insurance for my dogs for over 5 years. When I first signed up back in the customer service rep told me that it was okay to gather all my claims for the year and submit them at the same time at the end of the claim year. I specifically asked because this is what I do with my employer's Flexible spending plan and find that arrangement most convenient. So basically that is what I have done every year with few exceptions.

This year when I did that, I received a note back from VPI saying that they would not pay one of may claims (the largest, of course) because it was more than 180 days old. I missed the "cut-off" by a little over 1 month. I explained to VPI that I was submitting my claims all at once as I was told to do when I first signed up. They cited the 180 day policy and absolutely would not budge on their position even though I was following what their customer rep told me to do when I first signed up and I wasn't that late in the first place. But NO, they won't help me.

This is TERRIBLE customer service to someone who has faithfully paid a lot more to VPI than was received in benefits and who has been a good customer for 5 years. And when they actually do pay, they only pay a very small portion of your Vet bill. This company is a TOTAL RIPOFF and I recommend you DO NOT do business with them.
