In December I was suffering bad neck pain. I had seen in the paper that this new Chiropractor in town was offering new patient visits for $15.00 and that included x-rays. There is probably something wrong when a "doctor" has to lower prices like that to get people in the door!
Well, when my x-rays came back he said my neck was in a real mess and he thought he could help me, visits were $40.00 for the adjustment and $20.00 for each therapy (like laying on a heating table or with probes on your back). I did not have insurance and asked if they could set me up on a payment plan, the answer was no, you have to pay the whole amount every time, and he was wanting me to come several times a week. Do the math, that is alot of money, so I didn't go back.
Then in August a lady pulled out in front of me and I suffered whip lash. The lady's insurance was responsible for my bills, so I went back to "Dr" Gibson, he had me sign all these papers and started my treatment, he of course had me coming 3 days a week (thats how they make all their money).
After a while he worked massage therapy into my treatment course, which I loved, until I found out that they were charging $80.00 for a 30 minute massage. This is no differnt than any massage you would receive at any spa.in my town you can get a whole hour for $50.00.
Well, by late December I was no better, in fact I hurt worse on the days I saw him than on the days I did not. He said he could not do any thing else for me and sent me to a pain specialist. He never once suggested that I see my family physician.
A couple months later I was ready to settle my insurance case, and was shocked to find I owed "Dr" Gibson right at $3000.00. The usual and customary charge for all I had had done was $1800.00.
I asked "Dr" Gibson if he would come closer to the u&c charges and of course he refused to work with me AT ALL. So I paid him all his money, but I have not forgotten, whenever I hear someone asking about chiropractic, I tell them to stay away from him.
Just think about it, why would a "doctor" have to take out a full page ad in the newspaper and slash prices like crazy just to get patients?
By the way, turns out I have a degenerative problem in my neck, and I am as bad off now as I ever was. There is nothing a chiro can do for a degenerative problem, but they sure will keep you thinking they can.
Also, the receptionist called me at home after all this and told me how all "dr" Gibson cares about is $, not the patients, its pretty bad when the staff calls a patient to talk about how bad conditions are!!
