I will make this post short and sweet and to the point.
Office Manager - Beware of this company pretending to be a vendor of yours.
I received a call from a Kimberly with Excel. She answered the phone "Oh hey, this is Kim, I'm in charge of your copiers there at the office, I just need you to tell me the serial number on your copier real fast. It's located behind..." At this point i cut her off and asked her to repeat the name of the company she worked for. She replied Excel copiers. I said "That is not the company that services our copiers." She immediately hung up the phone.
A friend of mine who works as an office manager had a similar situation happen to her.
Unfortunately, she provided the machine serial ID when prompted on the telephone call.
She was then shipped and billed for copier toner that she never ordered.
Thankfully she warned me of this scam and I did not follow in her steps.
It is never ok to lie and say that you maintain a company's equipment when you, in fact, have no affiliation with that company whatsoever. Please double check company names before giving out any information to anyone who calls.
